Nervuri (Ada Carol)

Dis de dimineaţă

Ȋn prag de primăvară, frăgezimea salciei
mi-a amintit un jurământ.
M-am simţit ca un logodnic rătăcitor,
îndepărtat fără speranţă
de părul arămiu al iubitei.
Prin suflet mi s-au perindat atunci
imagini cu sufletul meu. El aici, eu acolo.
Parfumul i se risipeşte–n vânt…
Şi dintr-o dată m-am temut grozav,
crezând că nu voi mai putea atinge
pletele verzi ale dorului, ridicate zburdalnic
pe grumazul arborilor.

Early morning

So near spring. The willow’s frailty
Reminds me of an oath.
I felt like a roaming lover,
hopelessly banished
from his sweatheart’s copper locks.
There passed through my soul
Images of my soul. She was there, I was here.
Perfume scattered by the wind …
And suddenly, I shuddered with fear
Believing I would never get to touch again
The green leaves of my desire, playfully swirling
Up the long-necked trees.

I’m smiling. No matter why

I love the dreary weather
In early spring.
There’s pain in the air, in the frail buds,
The beasts are drowsy…
Myself, I’m just stirring,
Though in a little while I’ll be awake!
I know I will get back there,
Soon and without hindrances,
I will stop briefly in that place
Even if I do not know exactly when.
Esenin will be singing inside of me
About the roving moon and bitches
Separated from their pups,
About jingle-bell sleighs
Driven by the falling snow.
I love all these dearly
But maybe I will have to
Go through death in order to have them all.
So what, brother Serghei? Look how you’ve gone that way…
Afterall death, no matter how terrible,
Stands shamefacedly
In front of eternity.
