Vertijul îmi vine tot mai des
tot mai cadențat
ca în pași de tango
argentinian.
Mă face să văd totul
ca în ceață de parcă
îngerii și-ar poști
o țigară imensă
și ar sufla tot fumul spre
pământ.
Mintea mi se blochează
nu mai pot gândi nimic
de parcă nebunia
s-ar hrăni din
sinapsele mele
ca dintr-un restaurant de lux.
Doar o eșarfă
mă mai poate
salva.

Vertigo
I get the vertigo more and more frequently
rhythmically
like footstepts in a tango
from
Argentine.
It makes me see everything
like in a haze
as if
angels would puff and pass among themselves
a giant cigarette
blowing all the smoke towards
Earth.
My mind goes numb
I cannot think anymore
as if madness
were consuming
my synapses
on a plate in a luxurious restaurant.
My salvation
can only come
from a scarf.
Portalul magic
Mi-am invocat îngerul
atât de des
și-n poezii
și-n rugăciuni
încât a început să dezvolte
un fel de trup
o pojghiță subțire
ca o coajă de ou
cât să-l pot vedea
ca să mă conving
că-mi este aproape.
Dar cred că a rămas
prins în portalul magic
ce asigură trecerea
dintr-o lume în alta
că s-a lăsat o liniște prea grea
și din tavan s-au desprins
câteva fâșii de var.

The Magic Portal
I have conjured my angel
so frequently
through poems
and prayers
that he started developping
a certain bodily substance
fine like an eggshel
so that I can see him
and rest convinced
that he is near me.
But he may have gotten stuck
in the magical portal
that ensures the passage
from one world to another
`cause the silence that has fallen is too heavy
and from the ceiling there fell
several whitewashed shards.
Nimeni cel de toate zilele
Cel fără de vârstă
din marginea străzii
îşi desface ziarul
cel de toate zilele
îl citeşte
se învelește cu el
și adoarme.
Cel îmbrăcat la costum
ajunge acasă
îşi încălzeşte ciorba
cea de toate zilele
se înfăşoară în aburii ei
mănâncă
și adoarme.
Cel neiubit de nimeni
de nimeni aleargă
de nimeni cel de toate zilele
de sine cel de toate zilele
iar când se opreşte
îşi trage sufletul
să-i fie cât mai aproape
şi adoarme.

Everyday Nobody
The ageless one
on the street corner
opens up his newspaper
to read it
then wraps himslef up in it
and goes to sleep.
The one with a smart suit
gets home
warms up his everyday soup
wraps himself in its steams
and goes to sleep.
The one no one loves
runs away from no one
from the everyday nobody
from his daily self
and when he stops
to catch his living breath
he draws it as close to himself as possible
and falls sleep.
Oglinda
Am închiriat
o garsonieră
la mezanin
singurul meu vecin
este copacul
din spatele blocului
ce-mi bate la răstimpuri
în geam
cu o creangă
pe care uneori
aș vrea să o pun pe foc
dacă aș avea sobă.
Dar nu am decât
caloriferele
pe care înșir iarna
chiloți și șosete.
Mai am și alte mobile
ca-n Ionesco
dar de folos îmi este doar oglinda
prin care comunic cu celălălt.

The Mirror
I have rented a studio
in between the floors
my one and only neighbor
is the tree
from behind the block
that occasionally knocks
on my window
with a branch
that I sometimes
would consider for fire
if I had a stove.
But I have just
the heaters
on which I display boxers and socks
during winter.
There is also more furniture
as in Ionesco
but I only find the mirror useful
for communicating with the other.
